What is design? To some people design is the decor inside their houses. To others, it is a whole world of opportunities and options to be creative. Graphic design is one of those things that you can do for a lifetime and never learn everything that you would like to. There is an endless array of techniques and elements that you can use to create. When you are first starting out, it can be a little overwhelming… so many different treatments and functions. First, I would recommend using some tutorials online to learn the basics of your design program. The next step in my opinion, would be to start studying the world around you, making sure that you keep some of the pictures you see in your mind. Once you get to your computer, try to recreate them with colors, lines, and images. I hope this helps some of you newcomers to the design world. Just remember that everybody has images in their minds; only some of us take the time to learn how to get them out. Learning how to design does not come over night, it takes patience and practice.
